Thanks for your support.

So, why have a site on Organic Doggies? The concept is simple: get rid of chemicals, synthetics, over-processed junk-laden products and substitute chemical-free/organic products instead. Is it really worth the extra time, trouble, and possible increased costs to actively seek organic alternatives – is what you may be wondering. Without a doubt the answer is YES and you won’t have to look too far to see this.

Today, we are always strapped for time and look for quick solutions for everything – after all, who doesn’t like saving time? OK, but have you considered the cost of those so-called time saving conveniences?

Yes, as with anything else there is a cost. You may save a little up front but in the long run you’ll probably exhaust any savings with additional costs that creep in. One small example: health care. If you use prescription drugs for yourself or your animals, then you know most of those drugs have side-effects. The side-effects can be worse than the initial problems and they have to be addressed nonetheless.

We will explore ways to incorporate the “organic lifestyle” without having to file bankruptcy. It will require looking at alternatives and doing research, but the long-term benefits far outweigh the initial time spent.

We hope that you find out many new things, begin your journey into a clean, planet-friendly lifestyle for both you and your pets.

Please subscribe so that you will get an automatic notification whenever a new post is made.

If you’re saying to yourself, “my dog has fleas, so what can I do about it?“, then we’re glad you stopped by, because in this short article, we’re going to reveal why chemical-based flea products are bad, not only for your pets but for you and your family too, and why we recommend TripleSure over any other natural flea treatment for dogs (and cats).

But first, we’re going to hand you over to Gary Le Mon, President and founder of Natural Wonder Products, as he explains, in the following short video (it’s only two and a half minutes long), the problems with most commercial flea spray products and why his 100% natural TripleSure product is different.

Click Here To Buy TripleSure Now

We hope you enjoyed that!

Commercial Flea Medication – The Problems

As Gary said in the video, above, using chemical-based flea products, whether that be sprays, powders, squeeze-ons, collars or whatever, is dangerous.

The chemicals used are highly toxic, and can cause a number of health issues not only for your pets (e.g. incessant whimpering, enlarged kidneys and even brain tumors), but also for you too.

We all want to look after our pets in the best way we can, but do you really want to risk breast cancer, prostate cancer and Parkinson’s Disease in the process?

And it’s not just us saying that these chemicals are dangerous! We constantly receive criticism from a variety of people (often medical “professionals”) regarding our stance on chemicals, but in this instance, there are a number of respected organizations who have confirmed the toxicity of such chemicals.

The list includes:

CDC

Department of Labor

Environmental Protection Agency

National Academy of Sciences

National Resources Defense Fund

World Wife Fund for Nature

The big drug companies would have you believe that there is no other way, but that’s only because they can make so much money from peddling their drugs. And we’re not only talking the initial cost of their products, but also the repeat visits you’ll need to make to the vet so that they can try to “fix” the problems caused by those drugs.

So, what is the answer?

Natural Flea Remedies

There are several natural products on the market that claim to get rid of dog fleas, but the one that constantly seems to get first-class reviews from people who buy and use it is TripleSure.

This testimonial is typical of the ones we have found.

So why is TripleSure so well regarded?

TripleSure Is Effective

Unlike other natural flea and tick products, TripleSure only uses two ingredients, both of which were carefully selected based on their long heritage of killing bugs, and keeping them away.

There are several approaches to creating herbal products, and many companies seem to go overboard and include as many different herbs as they can.

The problem with that can be, especially for pets, that all those different tastes and scents can overload their sensory systems.

An alternative approach is to use the fewest number of herbs you need, and no more, and provided you select the best possible ones, you’ll have an effective, if not more effective, product at the end of it all.

So, what are TripleSure’s two ingredients?

Cedar oil and peppermint oil.

If you want to know more about why Gary chose these particular oils, then please read his fascinating story – after all, he’s the Board Certified Master Herbalist, not us!

An added bonus from using these two oils is the gorgeous aroma – something both you and your pets will appreciate.

Why TripleSure?

So, why the name TripleSure?

The clue is, of course, in the name – it does three distinct jobs:

It kills fleas and ticks (including bed bugs too) on contact.

It repels fleas and ticks, as well as bees, flies and mosquitoes.

It retards new insect infestations.

There’s actually a fourth good reason to use TripleSure, but maybe the name QuadroSure wouldn’t sound as good?

But seriously, what you need to realise about flea infestations is that, if you don’t deal with the problem quickly, they can turn into worm infestations (e.g. tapeworm) in a matter of two to three weeks – and that’s a much bigger issue (for which Gary also has a natural solution, of course – it’s called FourGuard)!

And the good news is that TripleSure is made in the USA with local ingredients and carefully manufactured to human grade standards.

That means that it’s deadly to fleas and ticks, but 100% safe for humans, children and, of course, your dogs!

By the way, did we mention that TripleSure is also a natural flea treatment for cats too?

How Much Does TripleSure Cost?

Unlike many other products on the market, TripleSure comes in a generous 16oz. container, which will be enough, in most cases, to treat your dog for about six months.

But just because it’s a larger-than-average spray, that doesn’t mean the cost will be greater.

How does $39.95 sound?

When you compare that to many of the chemical-based flea and tick products sold by traditional pet stores, you’ll find it’s about the same price.

The only difference is, of course, that it’s natural and therefore won’t cause all of those potentially dangerous problems listed above.

And Gary is so positive that you’ll love his TripleSure Flea & Tick spray that he even offers a full 90-day unconditional guarantee.

To us, that already represents great value, but Gary wants to make sure you get the best deal you’ll find online today: we’re not sure how much longer he’s going to be running this deal, but right now, if you buy one bottle of TripleSure, he’ll give you a second one absolutely free!

That means you’ll get enough TripleSure to keep your pet free from fleas and ticks for an entire year – all for the low price of just $39.95!

It’s outrageous, but some of the people actually enjoy giving their cat or dog alcohol and seeing how they react. As Fluffy or Fido reels around in a confused condition, their owners have a good giggle. Not each person who owns pets realizes that alcohol is toxic to dogs and cats – and exposure to outwardly innocuous amounts of alcohol can kill a pet. When alcoholic drinks are served, cats and dogs should be left out of the party – and in a safe place.

Topping up a pet’s bowl with beer or wine is not the only potential way a dog or cat can gain access to alcohol. They can also get exposure by licking up or drinking cooking products which contain alcohol, personal products like mouthwash or perfume, household cleaning products – or by getting into alcohol-containing cough syrups or other medications.

Some producers of cat and dog oral hygiene products really add 25% or more alcohol to their recipe, which may also cause injury over time. Either way, alcohol is bad for canines or cats. Cats and dogs can even get alcohol toxicity by consuming fermented foods, provided they eat sufficient of them.

Some types of alcoholic drinks are far more perilous to cats and dogs than others. Beer contains the lowest concentration of alcohol, typically around 4%. Wine averages 10% alcohol by volume, but some hard liquor can be as high as ninety percent alcohol.

Even small quantities of hard spirits can for certain kill a small dog or cat. More reason to keep that liquor cupboard locked and pets in a secure place when entertaining. Remember that all alcoholic beverages should be off-limit to pets without reference to the concentration of alcohol.

As in humans, when a dog or cat ingests alcohol, it causes depression of their central nervous system. In some ways, its effects on a pet’s nervous system are similar to that of humans. A dog or cat slows down, becomes drowsy and loses their coordination. If they’re exposed to higher degrees of alcohol, it can depress their nervous system to the extent that their breathing and heart rate slow down, and their body temperature drops.

Their blood chemistry is also changed, resulting in a threatening condition called metabolic acidosis where the blood becomes too acidic. At this stage, without treatment, death soon follows usually due to cardiac arrest. Even if a cat or dog doesn’t die of the acute results of alcohol poisoning, it can be damaging to their liver and kidneys.

What Are The Signs Of Alcohol Poisoning In Dogs And Cats?

Look out for changes in behaviour like problems standing up or walking, trouble with coordination, fatigue, a slow respiratory rate, excessive urination, puking, or a lack of responsiveness. Infrequently a dog or cat will have an odour of alcohol on their breath. If a cat or dog has had a full meal and then ingested alcohol, the signs and indications of alcohol harmfulness might be delayed for at least two hours.

Dogs and cats that are exposed to alcohol can also have perilous drops in their blood sugar level and might need to be given glucose speedily to avoid brain damage. Very low blood sugars can cause fits in pets.

If your cat or dog has any of these danger signs, take them to a vet’s office or animal emergency center immediately. The sort of treatment a veterinarian administers to a cat or dog that has alcohol poisoning varies dependng on their symptoms, lab studies and how much they consumed. The veterinarian will probably measure the quantity of alcohol in their blood, and check other blood parameters before beginning suitable treatment.

Some pets may not require treatment if the quantity of alcohol they consumed was little. Other animals will need activated charcoal to absorb the alcohol and intravenous fluids. Dogs and cats with a very slow heart rate due to the ingestion of alcohol may even have to be on a ventilator. Fortunately, most instances of alcohol poisoning in dogs and cats can be treated effectively if that treatment is started sufficiently early.
The Bottom Line:

Giving a cat or dog alcohol at a party is not an occasion for humor. It could permanently damage or kill the animal. Similarly, it’s important to keep all dogs and cats away from personal care products and home products. Study the label and ensure you buy a non-alcoholic cat and dog dental care product. Try to get other members of your family to do the same. Cats and dogs don’t know what’s good for them and what isn’t – and they’re by nature curious creatures. Don’t allow them to accidentally or purposely play around with alcohol.

The Canine Parvo virus very often strikes at the worst possible moment (although there’s never a good time for your pup to be stricken by the Parvo virus, of course) – you may find it’s 3:00am on a Sunday morning, and the vet’s center is not open.

So, what can you do?

You may already be aware that dogs suffering from Parvo are going to dehydrate extremely fast, which explains why veterinarians will likely hook them up to an IV drip; however, IV drips ordinarily are not items you’ll be able to simply purchase at your local supermarket.

Of course, if you don’t know about the dangers associated with lack of fluids, a fast bit of research on the internet will certainly soon give you the information you’re looking for.

The good news is that there is a home hydration therapy that is, in the vast majority of cases, at least as valuable as intravenous fluids as well as subcutaneous fluids …

… and it’s known as the Parvo Emergency Tea Recipe.

What is it?

It is something you can make in your own home, using ingredients you’ll be able to purchase at just about all respectable grocery stores and/or drug stores, and it’s designed to do two or three different functions.

To begin with, it is a natural electrolyte liquid that can stop your sick pup from dehydrating. (We realize that people, and this includes vets, will recommend using Gatorade or Pedialyte for this, but our own experience indicates that both of these fluids could potentially cause extra vomiting, which is certainly the last thing you need if your doggy has got the Parvovirus.)

Second, it may really calm down any vomiting – without the need for synthetic drugs which could induce, not surprisingly, additional problems.

Finally, a few of the herbs in the Parvo Emergency Tea should help boost your doggie’s immune system, which will certainly be under heavy assault from the Canine Parvovirus.

So, there are several details that you need to be aware of with the emergency tea, the most important of which is that you must administer it every single hour, and this does include both day and night, until such time as you can commence the full Parvo treatment.

In reality, you’re pretty much behaving like a human IV drip, and one of the keys to the treatment of the Canine Parvovirus is almost always to give limited amounts of liquid frequently – because dehydration is not the only danger with this virus – overhydration is as well.

However, a lot more vital than that, you need to realise that the Parvo Emergency Tea is NOT made to take care of the Parvo virus – whilst it does indeed attempt to simulate the Parvaid product using easily-obtained items, it’s not nearly strong enough to treat your suffering dog.

You must consequently NOT rely on this tea recipe for getting your suffering doggie better once more – it was created to buy you precious time and sustain him until you can get the right treatment plan up and running (and we do, not surprisingly, highly recommend the Parvo Treatment Kit).

While it is true a really small quantity of pups do appear to pull through using nothing more than the Parvo Tea (in addition to plenty of TLC), we’ve observed this occurs in roughly 0.1% of cases – which is roughly one single pet out of every thousand!

Are you willing to gamble that your family dog is the one fortunate doggie in a thousand?

We know we wouldn’t – our dogs really are way too special to us.

As a result, although we would invariably encourage you to make and give the Parvo Emergency Tea as soon as you become aware of any of the classic Parvovirus symptoms (i.e. not eating, not drinking, not playing / being lethargic, dehydration, depression, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, chills or fever), please, for the health of your dog, make sure you get him treated immediately!

One of our customers had a doggie which died only five hours after the initial attack of diarrhea, which shows just how hostile the Canine Parvo virus has become. This is so quick that you hardly have enough time to respond, which is one of the reasons why we highly encourage all dog owners to keep a Home Parvo Treatment Kit on hand constantly – just in case.

The question of where to buy Parvaid doesn’t seem like it should be too hard – just go to the local store and pick up a bottle.

Sorry, that’s just too easy; it is a little more involved than that.

Parvaid is an herbal product that is both synthetic and chemical-free. It is both safe and effective. Lamentably, since it is not a chemical-based drug, most vets who are trained in Western Medicine entirely discount organic products as nothing but some alternative solution that can’t possibly work as it has not been approved by the FDA.

Herbal products that are classified as food supplements or botanicals, as in the case of Parvaid and all of the other products required to treat Parvo, do not need to be evaluated by the FDA and therefore need not be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

A wall of resistance seems to go up as soon as you mention non-traditional or non-mainstream products. Most vets appear to know practically nothing about organic treatments, and in many cases they will be quite dismissive of any product that wasn’t produced by a drug manufacturer as they receive plenty of financial incentives for promoting drugs from the big pharmaceutical companies; whereas the small independent herbalist can’t come close to matching the payoff levels that a company the size of Pfizer, for example, can dangle in front of a struggling vet.

So, trying to get inexpensive herbal products into established distribution chains is not easy. The financial rewards are simply not there, there will be far less residual income, which is because herbal products tend to provide long-term relief compared to drugs that cause multiple side-effects that in turn mean you need additional drugs to counter-act the side-effects, and to continue to put a sticking plaster on the problems, you could end up taking pills and such for the rest of your life – which brings in a steady flow of cash each month.

What it boils down to is this – vets could get paid once (by really treating the problem and not the symptoms) or they could get paid many times, so it’s not too surprising that they choose the latter option.

Unfortunately, in this country we once had a proud tradition of using organic products to treat all types of ailments, but a couple of hundred years ago, drugs began to surface, large marketing campaigns were launched claiming how terrific drugs are and that they are the only road to good health, and so the propaganda machine continued at full force.

The organic market could not then and by-and-large still cannot compete with fat cats and their deep pockets. If you play ads hundreds of times a day that fill people with hype, work on their emotions, and basically wear them down, they will think there are no other viable solutions and therefore the drugs must be the answer.

The “pop a couple of pills and everything will be OK” mentality is all that most people know, because it’s what they grew up with. But nowadays bugs (i.e. germs, bacteria, parasites, viruses) are getting very strong and resistant to conventional treatments. You may find it easier to get your hands on chemical-based products but you probably won’t get the type of relief that you need.

Products like Parvaid work with the body, and not against, it, to help it heal from within. It would be nice to be able to go to your local market and find these organic type products, but as there are no big companies willing to promote these alternative treatments, you will not readily find these types of products in supermarkets, or even in the larger pet stores such as Pet Co or Pet Smart. You may, however, be more likely to find what you’re looking for if you look in small independent feed stores or pet stores.

But there are some things you need to be aware of first.

Very few of the smaller retailers who sell Parvaid really know much about the product or how best to use it for maximum effect, because to them, it’s nothing more than another item on the shelf.

Because here’s the thing – if you want to give your dog the best possible chance of surviving Parvo, then you not only need to know the correct way to administer the product but also how to make and give a few home remedies at the same time. Unfortunately, most retailers neither have the necessary knowledge nor expertise.

Another crucial factor is that the manufacturer now specifies a minimum requirement for four different products to treat dogs with Parvo (as well as exposed adult dogs), and yet many retailers do not carry the full set of required products.

This leaves you with a dilemma: spend valuable time hunting down a retail store in your area (and this could be hundreds of miles away) and hope that they have what you need product-wise, and then come home and deal with your sick pets on your own as best you can, or you could buy the products online.

The advantage of buying from a retail store is that you will probably save some time and some money (i.e. you won’t incur any shipping costs, although you will pay for gas), but the disadvantage is that you will get absolutely zero support. If anything does go wrong, because no matter how good the products are (and they are!), some dogs don’t respond to the standard treatment protocols for any number of reasons and therefore need adjusted dosage schedules, you’ll probably find that you’ll get no help from the store you bought the products from as they simply won’t have the knowledge and experience that you’ll need.

If you buy Parvaid online, then you need to examine exactly who is selling the products, how much experience do they have in case you need help, which happens more times than not, and how reliable is their website.

The Internet is well known for being a place where websites will take your money and run, without ever delivering what you ordered.

So, one key to look for is how much material is available on the subject of Parvo. If there is very little info then they probably don’t know much about it and are just selling another product.

Also, check to see what types of shipping methods are available. If they only offer USPS Priority Mail for example, that means they have no clue about how deadly this virus is and time is against you, so UPS or FedEx Overnight services are the ONLY acceptable shipping methods for sick animals.

We’ve dealt with 870 cases of Parvo (and counting), we only use FedEx Overnight for sick animals (Monday – Saturday deliveries), we make available a 100+ page book that we wrote all about Parvo, called Parvo Treatment 101, which you can download to your computer instantly and completely free of charge, we have developed (and frequently update) the most comprehensive Parvo Home Remedy Plan that will help sustain your sick dog until your products can be delivered, and throughout the treatment schedule, that you will find anywhere on the Internet, and we are the only company who offer all customers completely free and unlimited 24 x 7 phone support and personal coaching.

If you have Parvo on your property in the case of dogs, or Feline Distemper in the case of cats (unfortunately, cats can become infected from Parvo dogs in the form of Feline Distemper), then you will need support throughout this horrifying ordeal.

If you have not already done so, please visit ParvoBuster to help get your pets back on their feet again, and don’t forget to check out the many Parvaid testimonials left by some of our many satisfied customers.

Almost every dog owner assumes that they need to give their dog Parvo shots to stop them from getting the dreaded Canine Parvovirus, but if your vet told you the truth about these vaccinations, especially the three facts we’ve uncovered based on <strike>hundreds</strike> thousands of Parvo cases we’ve dealt with, as well as our extensive research, then you’d probably think differently about them.

Firstly, almost all vaccines in use nowadays are no longer protecting dogs against the latest 2c strain of Parvo.

This 2c strain, which first appeared in the United States during 2006 (although it had been present in Europe and other parts of the world for much longer), is much more aggressive and fast-acting than the older 2a and 2b strains.

For example, we had one customer, in the pacific North West, whose dog first showed symptoms of Parvo on a Sunday morning, and by late that same afternoon, it had already succumbed to this horrific virus.

As time goes on, we are witnessing an increasing number of customers who have adult dogs, as well as puppies, that are fully-vaccinated and that are contracting Parvo and are dying from it, unless they are treated in time.

Until not long ago, the only company that manufactured vaccines that had been 100% challenge-tested against the 2c strain was Intervet, but we’ve now had customers whose dogs were vaccinated using their products, and yet still contracted Parvo.

So, don’t assume that because your dog (whether old or young) has been vaccinated, he’s safe and will be immune.

Secondly, and we know this sounds counter-intuitive, but dogs are actually getting full-blown Parvo from the Parvo vaccinations.

Once again, many of our customers have dogs that display full-scale symptoms of Parvo within literally one or two days (and even a few hours in some cases) after being given their shots.

We know that some of our customers get this, because they themselves have told us that their own children have developed ‘flu shortly after being given their ‘flu jabs.

Well, exactly the same thing is going on with dogs and their Parvovirus shots.

If you stop to consider this for a moment, the vaccines contain modified versions of the live virus, and they are designed to weaken the dog’s immune system, as that is how they are supposed to work – well, that’s the theory. To add insult to injury, many vaccines contain multiple viruses – anywhere from four to seven or eight at a time.

Lastly, and perhaps most disturbing of all, is the fact that your dog’s immune system can be weakened by any vaccinations, not just Parvo ones. The results of this are obvious: your dog will have an increased chance of becoming ill in the future.

Other side-effects of vaccinations include chronic inflammation, which will cause the obvious issues like arthritis, but it’s now been proven that inflammation is a leading cause of cancer.

To top it off, the vaccines themselves also contain a wide variety of toxic chemicals, none of which are good for your dog and could cause additional problems.

It’s good that the recommendation for annual booster shots has been reduced by the AVMA to just every three years, but even this is too much. Ongoing research has proven that vaccinations will provide immunity for at least seven years, and perhaps even life.

So in summary then, Parvo vaccinations are no longer that effective against the 2c strain, they may even give your dog full-blown Parvo, and they can cause long-term health issues such as cancer.

If you were to ask your vet, he’d probably disagree with all that we’ve said here, but please bear in mind – it’s your dog, and you have the right to be told all of the facts before coming to an informed decision about which Parvo treatment to go fo, and not be hectored into doing something you don’t want to do.

If you buy Parvaid, together with other products such as Life Cell Immune Support, Doggie Pain Relief (aka Pet’s Pain Formula) and Vibactra Plus, then you’re giving your doggie a chance to survive the horrific Canine Parvovirus.

All of our products, including Parvaid, are 100% natural, containing herbs that are completely human-grade. There are no synthetics and no chemicals, which means that they are completely safe and have no side-effects, which is not the case with the prescription drugs and meds that your vet will try to give your dog.

We appreciate that you may be skeptical about the effectiveness of herbal products such as Parvaid, so let’s talk numbers for a moment.

For example, did you know, that most vets will tell you that your doggie only has a 33% to 80% chance of surviving a Parvo attack, and that’s if you have him treated at the emergency clinic, animal hospital or vet, where it can cost anywhere from $500 USD to over $10,000 USD to treat just one dog?

If you compare that with Parvaid and the other products in the Parvo Treatment Gold Value Pack, then you’ll find that our success rate is around 90%.

You can also treat one or more dogs, depending on their weight, for around $300 USD, and that includes FedEx Overnight shipping (which is all we use if a dog has Parvo – anything else is just too slow and your dog’s life is worth much more than the additional cost of overnight shipping).

So, a higher success rate for treating Parvo, combined with much lower costs.

That’s what we call a win-win situation!

But there’s more.

Here’s another fact you may not know: 80% of dogs that remain untreated die within 96 – 120 hours of the first symptoms being visible.

You need to bear in mind, however, that these figures refer to the older 2a and 2b strains of the Canine Parvovirus, but here’s the kicker – the latest strain that is officially known as 2c (but often known as the F-Strain), which is becoming more prevalent all over the US and other countries too, can take your dog’s life within just one day of seeing the very first symptoms, and that’s assuming you even recognize them as symptoms of Canine Parvo.

That means you barely have time to react, which is why we believe the only prudent course of action is to have products such as a Parvo Treatment Gold Value Pack, which includes Parvaid, for example, on hand at all times, so that you will be prepared should the worst happen and your dog is attacked by Parvo.

By doing this, you can start treatment immediately, which is the best way to increase his chances of surviving the Parvo.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, “yes, but my dog is an adult and he’s completely vaccinated.”

Well, we don’t want to disillusion you, but the 2c strain isn’t concerned with how old your dog is, or even whether he’s been vaccinated or not.

It’s true – we’re finding an increasing number of cases where fully-vaccinated adult dogs are being infected by and dying from Canine Parvovirus!

This is yet another reason why we urge you to buy Parvaid and the other three products in our Gold Value Parvo Treatment Pack now, so that you’ll have them if and when you require them.

And don’t be concerned about buying these products and then finding that they go to waste – they will all last for four or more years if kept in a cool, dark place.

Also, most of our product range, Parvaid included, can be used for many more purposes than just dealing with Parvo.

For example, Parvaid can be used for situations where your dog vomits after eating something that disagrees with him, or if he has gas (this works for humans too, by the way!). If your dog’s a bit off-colour and off his food, it will stimulate his appetite too.

So, even if your dog is lucky and never gets Parvo, which we obviously hope will be the case, when you buy Parvaid, Life Cell Immune Support, Doggie Pain Relief and Vibactra Plus (the products in our Gold Value Parvo Treatment Packs), you still have a first-rate Doggie First Aid Cabinet to make use of whenever you need it.

Parvo (more correctly known as Canine Parvovirus) is devastating, not only emotionally (mere words simply cannot do justice to how it feels to see your beloved dog healthy one minute, and incredibly sick the next, with vomit and blood-filled, foul-smelling diarrhea everywhere), but also financially.

From the minute you notice your dog isn’t well, the typical vet’s costs associated with treating Parvo just keep adding up (and up).

To begin with, you’ll probably need to pay between $25 and $50 for each office visit, and there will usually be more than one.

Next, your vet will more than likely want to do take a fecal matter sample for an instant, in-clinic test, or a blood sample to send away for a full work-up, or even both. These will cost you from $25 to $100, depending on the type of test. (And note that these tests may not even be accurate – with the latest 2c strain, a dog with Parvo may still test negative.)

If it turns out your dog actually has Parvo, then you should expect a bill in the region of $500 to over $10,000, per dog. These costs include items such as overnight stays ($50 a night), blood transfusions ($200 a time), medications ($100 – $200), etc. (And your vet will only give your dog a 50% – 80% chance of surviving Parvo.)

Lastly, if the vet is unable to treat your dog successfully, you will often be presented with every pet owner’s worst nightmare – the decision to have your dog put to sleep, which will cost you up to $300.

So, in total, your vet’s bill for Parvo treatment will be between $850 and $10,450 – and that’s just for a single dog. (As many people actually own two or more dogs, and when one of your dogs is infected by Parvo, the chance of any others on the same property contracting the virus is very high, you can probably double these figures, at least.)

To put this in perspective, the average cost of owning a dog over its expected life span of 11 years is about $13,550, so you could spend up to 77% (i.e. over three quarters) of this amount treating him for just one illness over a period of a week or so.

But, it doesn’t have to be that way – you can both prevent Parvo and treat Parvo using safe, chemical-free products such as Parvaid, Life Cell Immune Support, Vibactra Plus and Doggie Pain Relief for a fraction of the cost of taking your dog to the vet’s, and with a much higher chance of your dog surviving the Parvo virus (on average, 90% or better).

Parvo prevention usually starts when your dog is still a puppy, in the form of vaccinations.

The whole topic of Parvo vaccinations, and vaccinations generally, is much debated at the moment, and there are, of course, many advantages and disadvantages.

But perhaps the most serious downside, where Parvo is concerned, is that most vaccines available today (excluding PROGARD and Continuum, which are made by Intervet) are ineffective against the latest 2c strain of this dreadful virus.

You therefore need other measures, because you cannot assume that your dog is safe just because he’s had all of his shots. Since early 2007, there have been many stories in the media of fully-vaccinated dogs, including puppies and adults, being infected by and dying from Parvo.

If you want to find out what these other options are, you’ll need to look out for Part 2 of this article!

80% of dogs that are infected by Canine Parvovirus that are untreated die in four or five days – with the older 2a and 2b strains of the virus.

With the latest 2c strain, even fully-vaccinated dogs, including both puppies and adults, are being infected by and dying from the Canine Parvo virus.

Some breeds, such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Black & Tan Coonhounds, Doberman Pinschers, German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers are more susceptible to the Canine Parvo virus for reasons nobody yet understands.

Although the Canine Parvo virus is particularly prevalent in the southern states, with California, Texas, Arizona and Florida being the four worst hit, every state in the US, including Hawaii and even Alaska, are suffering outbreaks.

The virus is incredibly hardy and can live in the ground for up to 20 years, with an ability to survive extremes of temperature, including frost and hot weather.

If you take your dogs to the vet’s to be treated, it could cost you anywhere from $500 to over $6,000 per dog.

Most vets will only give your dog a 50% – 80% chance of survival, in spite of their expensive treatments.

Although the Canine Parvovirus has historically been transmitted through contact with infected feces and vomit, it is now suspected that the latest 2c strain may be airborne.

It is ironic that cats can now be infected by the latest 2c strain of Canine Parvovirus, given that it has always been suspected that Canine Parvovirus originally evolved from a similar feline virus, feline distemper.

The latest 2c strain of the Parvo virus can kill your dog within one day of symptoms first appearing, with some dogs dying in only six hours.

The Parvovirus can incubate for anywhere from three days to 15 days, although five to seven days is the average. This means that your dog could be sick for up to two weeks and you would not even know it, as there would be no visible symptoms. However during this time, the virus is growing in strength, ready to wreak havoc on your dog’s body.

Ironically, administering a Canine Parvo vaccine, especially the very first shot, can actually increase the chance of your puppy contracting this virus. This is because the maternal antibodies in the puppy’s body can kill off the modified live virus that is in the vaccine, but as shots work in part by lowering the body’s natural immune system, this actually opens up the puppy to infection by the full, live virus (not to mention other infections too).

A few breeds of dogs, especially Poodles and Cocker Spaniels, appear to be at a lower risk of contracting the Parvo virus, although this does not mean that they will not be infected.
